On The Road Again

I’m planning on buying a 2005 or 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

However, I see that there is an MR.

I would like to know the difference and which one would be good to buy?

    I don’t know. . . i want to know also

the evo mr is more of a premium package if i can use that word, they come with better wheels and some upgraded suspension and some lighter parts.

  3. Zach Says:

The MR has a 6 speed tranny and the base EVO has a 5 speed. Also the MR has leather seats, extra gauges and lighter wheels and stickier tires. The 6th gear in the MR helps when youre on the highway, saves gas. Spend alittle more and get the MR.

MR is just simply a 4 cylinder engine with MIVEC. . MIVEC works pretty much the same as VTEC on a honda. When MIVEC is used it boosts somewhat similar to a turbo, NOT AS POWERFUL but similar. . MR’s are awesome on gas as i own one as well. . EVO’s are powerful as it comes stock standard with turbo but uses more gas and needs servicing more often compared to a MR, so i would but the MR because they are great cars and they last forever

The MR (at least in the evo x) is the heavier model. it also has some nicer parts but it is to help cut down on weight but the GSR is the lighter vehicle. the MR is has always been the “more luxury” of the evos. back in the evo viii and ix days the RS model was the striped down one with no amenities to save on weight, the GSR was the one most people got and the MR was the high end, even though all had the same engine, HP, and TQ. in the x however, the MR is the automatic, with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. the GSR is a manual. the MR uses 2 piece calipers, lighter rims, and a few other things to try to help cut down the weight, it just so happens that these things also are a nicer product than that of what is on the GSR.
