I just got a 1992 nissan maxima and there are three buttons. Lock, unlock, and the option button. But i can’t seem to figure out what the option button does.

It can be programmed to unlock the truck, turn the interior light if not all ready planned for this. It can be programmed to open the garage door open if you have an opener. It could be scheduled for a remote start if you have installed

In most car keys, if more than 2 buttons at the 3rd one is usually a button auxillery. If you buy the car and pressed the button does not open or activate or start something, more than likely the button is not scheduled for anything. It can be programmed to open the trunk, start the car, roll up windows if you have power windows. If there is no panic button can be. The panic button is for when you just push likely hold for 3-5 seconds and the alarm or horn starts beeping. If not, we will go to the Nissan dealer and ask you about it. I hope this helps a little.
