I need to move my wife’s car (05 toyota highlander) for about 1200 miles – without driving it.
I intend to use my truck (05 Nissan pathfinder).
The truck doesn’t have anything hooked up for towing.
Any advice or recommends would be appreciated.
Using a transporting company would be my last alternative as the budget is very tight for this move.
Thanks.

First you will have to get a tow hitch for your truck. If you don’t know much about hooking one of these up, then you will have to have a shop install it and set it up for you, an RV shop should be able to do this for you. If you are towing that far then you will want to have her vehicle on a trailer, so you will probably have to rent one from UHaul or a place like that that does one way rentals. They will let you know if the set up (trailer and vehicle) is within safe limits for towing with you Pathfinder, which I believe has a 6000 lbs towing capacity. Just remember, when you are towing, take it easy, don’t speed, and allow plenty of time for braking and space for maneuvering. Consult your owner’s manual for other info about towing with your particular vehicle.

You better try it around the nieghborhood once and if you feel it is okay then you better start your 1200 Miles with a single step. By the way, is your Pathfinder the new one or the old one??
