But if you wanted to and had the money to do so you could easily convert it up to being a 1200cc engine. For this work to be done the cylinders need to be bored out further and a Harley Davidson dealership will charge about $900 to do this for you.
Although the 883 Sportster has a large engine it has not been designed for being ridden at high speeds, generally going no higher than 60mph is best, especially if you want to avoid vibration. Rather those who would prefer some thing a little faster then a Japanese motorcycle might be a safer bet for them. Yet for those who like the feel of the wind in their face and the sun on their skin then this motorcycle would be perfect.
In fact, the Harley 883 Sportster is suited both to riding in the city or down long and winding country roads. Plus since being fitted with a belt drive rather than the more traditional chain drive they are much quieter and cleaner than before, plus they are actually a lot easier to maintain as well. Therefore, if you want a bike that holds its value and retains all the qualities that are synonymous with such an iconic motorcycle company you cannot do much worse than consider buying one of these machines.
