Test driving any convertible means that you want to feel the wind blowing your hair and the car speeding along as it hugs the road. Nevertheless, you will get this experience from any sports convertible. A luxury convertible must look sleek, classy, and luxurious. Inside the car, the seats should be comfortable and supportive.
A luxury convertible will seat either two occupants in comfort or four. A problem with most luxury convertibles with rear seats is that they are narrow and especially uncomfortable when the top is up. Convertible car designers are still debating whether a light metal roof is better than a fabric roof or not. Both roof designs have their pros and cons. The metal roofs are heavier and take up a fair amount of boot space.
Typically, a luxury convertible proffers seating for just two individuals or four. A difficulty with most of the luxury convertibles is its rear seats are much tapered and chiefly painful when its top is high. Architects of convertible automobiles are still debating if a light metal roof appears to be superior to a fabric top or not. Both designs of its top have their pros and cons. In case of a metal roof, it is heavier, and needs a superior amount of boot space.
If it is a luxury convertible, and you have the roof up, it will be like driving a luxury coupe. When you start the car, the engine should come to life quietly, even with the top down. Do not expect to hear the engine growling into life. If it is a manual transmission, the gears should engage smoothly and the clutch release should be smooth. Once your right foot goes down the car should accelerate quickly.
In ideal situations, the car should not take more than eight seconds to set off from a standstill to sixty miles/hour. The steering should work nicely and during its drive, the driver must feel its strong grip on the road. Weather conditions must not affect the road grip of the car. The car is supposed to run smoothly even when running at hundred miles per hour speed.
The ride must be smooth and not jarring and there should be no vibration at high speeds. On twisting roads, the car should take the bends cleanly without any body roll or tyre screeches. The car must not buffet in the wind and the windshield angle should deflect the breeze from being blown in the driver, and the face of the front seat occupant. The brakes should be effective and responsive with anti locking system.
The gear changes of the car, pace, and reaccelerating should be smooth. The engine of the car should not have to make effort at heights. The controls of the vehicle must have a trouble-free approach, and its all the instruments should be highly discernible with the direct sun shining on them. A luxury convertible is highly expected to have a beautiful interior.
The driver of a luxury convertible should enjoy the drive. The driver should not feel even for a minute that she or he has lost control over the car. The luxury convertible should be enormously protected, and a bliss to drive.
