This video is a great example of how not to do a brake job. 90% of the steps to do a brake service correctly were not done. It is this type of service that will lead to all sorts of problems, and complaints. Most of the accepted professional trade standards in servicing brakes are also violated here, causing potential safety problems. The correct methods can be found online at professional sites. This guy poses a danger to the industry and his customers. ? Do you want cheap or correct?

I never use american car mechanics to do maintenance work on my cars. I always changed every thing including mufflers. The only time I took my car was to weld a piece on the exhaust and I was watching the fuker like a hawk. Do your own work, never trust american anything.

I have a friend that worked at pepboys, the service is very slow and they have mostly entry level installers. though it should take about 10 min to do pads with air tools for any level of tech

go to sears an get a C3 19. 2 Impact wrench. thats small enough to fit behind the caliper and strong enough to zip off the bolts. I own one myself and its great for light stuff, use IMPACT sockets though

here in mexico nobody tell you how to do it yourself . . . . mechanics in mexico sucks,,,they only want more money for his pocket hahahaha. . .
good video man thanks for the advice. . .
I will change my old brakepads myself

i guess your gonna have to replace your new caliper . . . it happened to me last month i was changing my brake pads at home then one of the bolts locked and did many techniques to loosen it up but it wouldnt work so i had to buy a new one . . . good luck

did anybody notice that he did’nt put the new rear pad in??? 0_0 or was that just me?
BTW take the cap of the brake fluid reservoir before squeezing the pistons back in put some rag on the out side of the neck incase of spillage
spray the whole braking area with brake cleaner before working on it, to stop the horrid dust.
clean the grooves where the new pads will sit so they don’t bind. .
i find this a very poor video, buy a car manual instead. . NEVER make short cuts with brakes!

try soaking them in PB blaster. You will most likely have to use a breaker bar on them, but be careful not to round off the bolt heads

wow, this video gives you the basic idea but fails to cover many important point. First of all, after removing the pads from the caliper slides you must clean all of the brake dust and rust from the slides. If not your new brake pads will most likely stick, which will wear your new pads out in a matter of a few months. Also the video take only 3 min. because the car is already jacked up the wheel off and the caliper bolts loose. Nice video but I wouldn’t rely on it.

I’m having trouble losing up the two caliper nuts/bolts. I used a quite a lot of strengths and it turned a little but the nut still wont budge. Any help would be appreciated.

i just did my breaks ater watching this clip. it took me half an hr to do both rear breaks (taking wheels off too) cost me 60 bucks for pads. . . . . auto shop told me it would cost 350 bucks!!!! this clip saved me a bundle!! but just check your break fluid level. . . . i had to take some out.

He had it part dissembled already which saves a lot of time.

It has to be EXACTLY right. If it doesn’t fit it can shift, fail or even pop out in an emergency. Here in the UK you WILL go to jail if there is an accident and it turns out that you used the wrong part.
December 4th, 2009 at 4:01 am
haha that took all of 3 minutes. i called pep boys and asked them how long it would take to get my break pads changed. the dude told me 1-2 hours. . . now unless he meant because of the wait time with other cars ahead of mine. . . i sense a big scam there.
December 4th, 2009 at 4:52 am
does the brake pad need to be exactly the same size as the old one? coz i got a bit smaller one but it still fits. . i just couldnt transfer the clamp from the old brake pads. . . and new brake pads doesnt have the metal thing. . . should that be okay? thanks

Your jack can fall anytime since hydrolics can bleed off spontanusly and you need to use a solid jack too also you should check the rotor to make sure it doesnt need to be machined.
