Photo by Premshree Pillai In the past, Nissan’s CEO and savior Carlos Ghosn has been very vocal about his thoughts on hybrid vehicles.
According to him, hybrid vehicles are not yet practical when Toyota and Honda came up with hybrid cars. The cost of production of these cars is the reason stated by Ghosn because hybrids are not yet practical in recent years.
Recently, however, it appears that Ghosn has decided that the time is right for a hybrid car to join the lineup. The Nissan Altima hybrid is the company’s first entrance on the market of hybrid vehicles.
While it seems that Nissan has changed its mind on the production of hybrid vehicles, should consider that Nissan is still somewhat cautious about selling the Altima Hybrid. This is due to the fact that Nissan offers only the Altima Hybrid in the eight states with more stringent emission standards. These states are California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
The Altima Hybrid, although not entirely a Nissan, even if its components are made where manufactured parts Nissan Maxima. This is because the powertrain used in the Altima Hybrid is the Toyota – that one known as the Hybrid Synergy Drive.
Nissan’s use of that technology has made possible by a license agreement with Toyota.
The third largest Japanese car but plans to introduce a hybrid vehicle of his own before the turn of the century. The production of this vehicle is part of Nissan Green Program 2010.
The program is environmentally aware Nissan’s target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles and their facilities. Recently, the company installed solar panels to assembly in Barcelona, Spain.
For now, though, the only hybrid Nissan’s lineup is the Altima Hybrid will have an initial price of $ 24,400. The hybrid version of the Altima is estimated at $ 3,500 more than conventional Altima. The hybrid version if qualified for $ 2350 tax credit.
The tax incentive scheme, owners Altima Hybrid expected to get back their initial investment within two years in fuel savings.
The Altima hybrid’s powertrain can produce as much as 198 horsepower. Internal combustion engine is a 2. 5-liter direct overhead camshaft 16-valve 4-cylinder engine. This engine produces 158 hp of the total energy of the system drive.
Provide additional hp in the powertrain is a modern AC permanent magnetic electric motor.
Being a hybrid, we need an efficient high power output battery. Nissan chose a sealed nickel-metal hydride or Ni-MH battery which produces 40 more horsepower. With the engine and the electric and emission filtering devices, Nissan has managed to get an advanced technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle rating on the Altima Hybrid.
For the ride comfort is concerned, the Altima Hybrid sports context independent sub-mounted strut-type suspension for the front end. To the rear of the car, Nissan is equipped with a multi-link independent suspension arrangement. Stabilizer bars are also part of the Nissan Altima hybrid’s suspension assembly and vehicle speed-sensitive power steering.

Photo by superciliousness They don’t have information on the Nissan website yet so I was just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors.
Nissan says they are going to release them in June 2008 which is next month but I just want to know all the information available now.
I have always been a fan of the Maxima and LOVE the new model.
I plan to buy one but want to know how much they are going to cost. I assume they will be more expensive than the 2008 model.
Any information is appreciated.
Thanks!

No, I don’t know if it was an option. I’ve been unable to find any info on it at all. That’s why I’m here!
The commercial for the new 2009 Nissan Maxima has a really catchy song playing in the background, which sounds kind of old school. Does anyone know what it is? The commercial shows 2 Maximas (white & black) coming together to make 1.
