  In 1998, the Volvo S80 was added to the lineup and to enter the market mid-size luxury car. During this period, the S80 immediately became standout in its class for performance and design.
  Then became one of the first Volvos to have departed from the traditional boxy design that Volvo is known for the vehicles. The luxury car is also designed to attract the attention of most car buyers. Its predecessor, the Volvo 960, throughout its life, has only managed to become best seller among Volvo enthusiasts. The Volvo S80 has however managed to raise its key buyer of Volvo, offering something new and different from the Swedish brand.
  The only problem facing the first generation S80 is the question of power. While most cars in its category offers tremendous eight or six cylinder engines, the first generation Volvo S80 only a choice between five cylinder and six-cylinder engine.
  In an effort to increase the strength of the relatively small engine, Volvo are equipped with turbochargers. This increase in production engines, but still not the same competition category of Volvo. For the 2007 model year, however, Volvo has made a move for the first time for them.
  The second generation of Volvo S80s equipped with a V8 unit to match the power of rival cars. This step in the S80 sedan Volvo's first to be equipped with an engine V8. The 3. 2-liter V8 engine available for the sedan 2007 S80 is capable of producing as much as 235 units of horsepower. The engine is the same used in winning the Volvo XC90, but is much smaller.
  The exterior design of the first and second generation S80 looks and no hint of major redesign may be considered prima facie. But if you look carefully, the first generation seems boxier the new generation S80. The hood of the 2007 Volvo S80 slopes above the hood of his predecessors. From the outside, the Volvo S80 seems simple, but it has the aura of luxury that one can definitely experience inside the S80.
  As far as Volvo calls "Scandinavian luxury", the cockpit of the S80 reflects a simple but functional and luxurious design. In addition to interior style, the control units of some of the features of the S80 is also simple to operate making it convenient for consumers. The seats offer good side support and back that gives a sense of comfort even if he or she is tied to the seats of the vehicle on a long journey. For families, the S80 offers good storage capacity. The trunk is spacious and the rear seats can be folded to provide more space for cargo. The entertainment system is superb with an MP3-capable six CD changer that can be connected to external audio player. The button engine start feature is also one of the most technologically advanced features that the S80 employs.
  And because the S80 is a Volvo, one can expect that it will be loaded with safety features. The S80 is built around a unibody structure that gives the relative safety of passengers during crashes. The materials used in the manufacture of S80 differ in strength. Those who are away from passengers is not as strong as those near the passenger. This is specifically designed to absorb more energy in a collision. Other safety features include adaptive cruise control, or the BLIS Blind Spot Information System, the Personal Car Communicator, and adaptive headlights bi-xenon. Increased engine power also need a good braking system. The Volvo S80 is equipped with large ventilated disc brakes on all wheels. It is also equipped with an anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution. The S80 is not only safe for passengers but also for the environment, thanks to Volvo catalytic converter is equipped with.
